Aging-in-place work in Doylestown
Doylestown homes range from 1800s borough colonials to newer subdivisions out by Mercer Museum. The common thread among our clients here: modifications need to look like a designer remodel, not a medical accommodation. We're fine with that.
Doylestown houses, in our experience
In the borough, we work mostly on three-story colonials and Federal-style homes near State Street — narrow lots, original plaster, sometimes Mercer tile in the original baths. Outside the borough, we work in subdivisions in Plumstead, New Britain, and Buckingham, which are usually 1990s-and-newer construction with first-floor primary suites and three-car garages.

- Primary-suite bathroom remodels. In newer construction, the primary bath is large enough for a full curbless conversion with separate shower and freestanding tub kept for resale.
- Historic borough bathroom updates. In older borough homes, we work around original Mercer tile and historic-district guidelines — replacing only what needs replacing.
- Stair lifts on colonial staircases. Doylestown's older homes have steep, narrow stairs. We spec units that fit and install without modifying historic woodwork.
- Whole-house lever-handle and lighting upgrades. Small changes throughout — lever handles, motion-sensor lighting at stair landings, anti-scald valves — that add up to a much safer house.

A primary-suite remodel in newer Doylestown construction typically runs $22,000–$45,000. Borough historic-bath updates range from $9,000–$18,000 depending on what's preserved. Stair lifts start around $3,800. Grab bars are $180–$320 installed. We don't quote until we've walked the house.
