Steady Step Homes builds homes that work for people of every ability. Our website should do the same. This page explains where we are, what we test for, and how to tell us when something doesn't work.

Our commitment

We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. That's the standard most government and healthcare sites follow. We're not perfect yet, but we're working on it.

What we do

• Body text at 18px minimum, with 1.55 line height — easy to read for older eyes
• Color contrast tested against WCAG AA on every page
• All images have descriptive alt text
• Pages work without a mouse — keyboard navigation throughout
• Forms have visible labels and clear focus states
• No auto-playing audio or sudden motion
• Phone numbers are tappable links on mobile

Known gaps

We're a small team and ship updates regularly. If you find something that doesn't work for you — a missing label, a contrast issue, a form field you can't reach with the keyboard — we want to hear about it.

About our renovation work

Accessibility on the web is the easy part. The harder, more meaningful work is the homes we build — curbless showers, wider doorways, lever handles, comfort-height fixtures, ramps where steps used to be. If you or someone in your family needs help making a home work better, we're a phone call away.
